Here are some opinions on Magi, taken from various websites and magazines.

It's always a pleasure to come across games like Magi - bold stabs at innovation that move away from the copycat norm so often associated with the indie game circuit.

Magi is a good strategy game surrounded by role-playing elements. The character creation options are powerful, and they can drastically alter your approach to the game. The strategic gameplay is solid, and once you unlock some of the more advanced spells, Magi becomes great: trying to outwit your opponent and take advantage of their shortcomings is what strategy gaming is all about. Magi is a fairly unique combination of role-playing and strategy and it's recommended for fans of either genre.

I have really enjoyed playing and reviewing MAGI; the concept is fresh and the implementation of it has produced a game that finds itself without a lot of direct competition. It looks and sounds good, and is easy to learn and easy to control. Not only that, the game is quite addictive, and you'll find yourself staying up way past your bedtime ensnared in the old "just one more battle..." trap.

I'd like to pretend this was a 'casual' game, and I could pick it up, play for a quick 10 minute duel, and put it down, but the truth is, every time I pick it up it turns into a compulsion to play match after match.

Overall: Well Done

Although this game is fronted by an extraordinarily generic name, the game play is anything but. It differs from the usual, run of the mill role-playing games as there is no game world to explore here and no itemization of any kind. The strategy aspect of the game is also unique, featuring its own brand of game mechanics.

Overall: Try

Its gameplay can be pretty addicting, particularly trying out new combinations of spells and stats; there's a deep strategy to it. It also has some of the best particle effects I've ever seen anywhere, and the game overall is very polished.
