MAGI is an indie strategy game about wizard duels. It mixes some features of collectible card games, like MtG, with intense action of martial arts games, like Tekken or Mortal Kombat. On the top of that, it adds an RPG style character development to spice things up. It's also fun to play ;).
The player creates a mage, chosing from various professions and attributes, and then starts dueling other wizards in order to gain more power. Battles involve lots of strategy and quick decision making and there are various tactics that can lead to victory. As the duels go, the character gains more experience points and player is able to pick new attributes and spells. The basics are simple, but can lead to many interesting aproaches and builds, as can be seen on the Strategy section of our forums.
The player's character gains power but also advances in age. And no mage is immortal. Eventually every wizard will have to face his/her final opponent - the Death herself. Winning means immortality, losing means death. Defeating the Death is the main goal of the game and all thes trategy and character development are preparations for this final battle. Be warned - it won't be easy.
MAGI was developed by a small team of creative indie developers, artists and gamers. The game itself was designed and put together by Tom Grochowiak and the music was composed by Rob Westwood. Later two artists joined the team to help in improving the looks of the game and to work on upcoming projects.
You can learn more about how cool we are on our Authors section ;).
Check our Press section to see what gaming sites and magazines had to say about MAGI. We might as well be bullshitting you with marketing, right? ;)
You get to fully use the character creation system, gain access to
all the spells and professions and the ability to actually finish
the game. You can also play different gameplay modes once you finish
the basic one.
However, the most important part is that you get a personnal
satisfaction of supporting something different and independent. Your
money will allow us to make more great games, that you wouldn't
normally found on the market shelves.
Other than the Press section, you can check the Forums.
